The first step to removing a mustard stain from a belt is to blot it with a soft cloth as soon as you notice it. Don't rub or scrub the stain, as this will only spread the mustard further and make it more difficult to clean. As you blot, press down lightly to absorb as much of mustard as possible.
Once you've blotted the stain, mix a detergent solution by combining 1 teaspoon of a mild liquid laundry detergent with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Submerge a white cloth into the solution and squeeze it until it's damp.
Next, gently apply the solution to the stained area using the damp cloth. Work the solution into stain, using some light pressure. You don't need to rub the stain harshly, just enough to make sure the detergent has been applied.
Take a second cloth and dip it in clean, cold water. Use it to rinse detergent out of the belt and the stained area. Since mustard is an oil-based stain, it may take multiple applications of detergent and rinsing to remove stain completely.
Once you've rinsed the belt, lay it flat and let it air dry. Do not put it in the dryer, as heat could set the stain and make it impossible to remove.
