Removing Mustard Stain

When removing mustard stains from alpaca fabric, start by blotting the affected area with a clean paper towel as soon as possible. Make sure not to rub the stain, as this will only work the stain further into the material.

If the stain has already set in, make a paste with water and baking soda and apply directly onto the mustard. Allow this to sit for 10 minutes before gently brushing it off with a soft cloth. Wipe away any excess with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

Finally, if the area needs some extra care, mix equal parts of liquid dish soap and hydrogen peroxide and use a cotton swab to apply mixture onto the stain. Blot away the remaining liquid with a cloth/paper towel and allow the fabric to air dry.

Preventing Mustard Stains from Coming Back

After removing the mustard stain, take a few moments to treat the area with a stain repellent or upholstery protector. This will help to prevent any future stains from setting in and make it easier to clean them in the future.

To keep your alpaca fabric looking good as new, vacuum weekly with a soft brush attachment to remove dirt and dust particles. Handwashing alpaca fabric is best done in warm water with a mild soap and detergent before hanging it out to dry.
