Using a clean cloth, start by blotting the stained area. This should absorb some of the moisture and also reduce the size of the stain. Don’t scrub the fabric during this step, as that could drive the stain further into the fibers.
Before doing any laundering, pre-treat stain with a laundry pre-treatment product. Follow the instructions on the packaging for best results. Let the pre-treatment product sit for at least five minutes before moving on to the next step.
Put the garment in the washing machine using hottest water setting recommended for the fabric type. Add your regular detergent and a color-safe bleach and let the washing machine run its cycle. Check garment after the cycle is complete.
If the stain is still present after the first cycle, repeat steps two and three until the stain has been completely removed. If the stain still persists, you might want to take the garment to a dry cleaner for professional treatment.
