1. Pretreat the Stain With a Mild Detergent

The first step in removing a mud stain from wool is to pretreat it with a mild detergent. A mild laundry detergent or wool wash is ideal for this. Simply dilute detergent with some warm water in a bowl and mix until it forms a paste. Then, use a cloth to rub the paste onto the stained area.

2. Rinse Off Paste

Once you've rubbed the paste into the mud stain, it's time to rinse it off. Use lukewarm or cold water to rinse off the paste and any remaining mud. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to ensure no detergent residue is left behind.

3. Wash Your Garment Separately

To avoid staining other clothing items, you should always wash the mud-stained wool garment separately. Set your washing machine to gentle cycle, then add a mild detergent and the garment. Let the cycle complete and garment air dry.

4. Blot the Stain With White Vinegar

If mud stain is still present after washing, you can try using white vinegar to blot it away. Put some white vinegar onto a cloth and dab it onto the stain. This will help to break down the mud and lift the stain away from the fabric.

5. Re-wash and Air Dry

Finally, after blotting the stain with white vinegar, re-wash the garment on a gentle cycle. After washing, air dry the garment on a flat surface or hang it up to dry.
