Use a dry, absorbent cloth to blot the mud stain and remove excess dirt and debris. Try not to rub the area, as this can cause further staining and damage to wallpaper. Instead, press the cloth gently against the stain to soak up as much of the mud as possible.
In a bowl, mix one tablespoon of mild soap (such as dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent) into two cups of lukewarm water. Stir the solution to ensure that the soap is completely dissolved.
Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and gently dab it onto the mud stain. Try not to rub too hard, as this can cause further damage to the wallpaper. Once the stain has been saturated with the cleaning solution, let it sit for five minutes before blotting it again with a clean cloth.
Once mud stain has been removed, rinse the area with clean water. Use a wet cloth to remove any remaining residue from the wallpaper. Finally, dry area thoroughly with a clean cloth or towel.
