Before cleaning your trench coat, inspect garment to determine the type of fabric it is made of and its specific care instructions. This will help you decide which cleaning supplies you should use when tackling the stain. Once you have determined the material of your coat, gather the necessary supplies.
Mix a small amount of mild detergent into warm water and apply it to affected area of the trench coat. Gently massage the solution into the fabric with a soft cloth or brush, being careful not to damage garment. Allow the detergent-water mixture to sit on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Once the mud stain has been removed, hang the trench coat in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight, as this may cause discoloration or fading. To deodorize the coat, you can spray a fabric refresher or add a few drops of essential oil to a cloth and wipe down the garment.
Once trench coat is completely dry, inspect fabric for any remaining stains. If you spot any, repeat the cleaning process. Depending on the severity of stain, you may need to repeat process several times until it is fully removed.
Removing mud stains from a trench coat is easy, but it requires patience and careful attention. With right steps and supplies, you can keep your trench coat looking its best for many years to come.
