What You'll Need

  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Pre-wash stain remover
  • Cold water
  • Bucket or basin
  • Clean white cloth

Instructions

  1. Start by pre-treating any stubborn mud stains with a pre-wash stain remover. Do this before washing garment to give the remover more time to break down the stain.
  2. Fill a bucket or basin with cold water and add a squirt of liquid laundry detergent.
  3. Soak the stained area of the seersucker in the solution for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Using a clean white cloth, gently dab at the stain until it starts to fade.
  5. Rinse garment with cold running water.
  6. Air dry the garment or tumble dry on low heat if the fabric label permits.
  7. Check the garment for any remaining stains and repeat the steps above if needed.

Tips

  • Be sure to use cold water as hot water could set the stain.
  • Try not to rub fabric during cleaning as this can cause seersucker to snag or become misshapen.
  • For set-in mud stains, try soaking overnight before pre-treating and washing.
  • If possible, wash the garment in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
