Erase Instantly: How to Clean Mud Stains from Pavers and Concrete

If mud stains from your garden have dirtied your pavers and concrete, don't worry! With the right supplies and techniques you can clean and remove mud stains from your outdoor surfaces in no time.

Before beginning any cleaning process, it is important to make sure the area you will be working on is dry. If there is standing water or dampness present, use a towel or mop to absorb it. Once area is cleared of moisture, it’s time to gather your cleaning supplies. Here are the items you’ll need:

• Mild detergent
• Bleach
• Scouring agent
• Scrub brush
• Soft sponge
• Garden hose

To begin cleaning, fill bucket with warm water and mix in a few tablespoons of mild detergent. This will create a sudsy solution perfect for tackling mud stains and other debris your pavers and concrete may have been exposed to. Dip your scrub brush into the mixture, then use the brush in light circular motions to tackle mud stains. Rinse off the solution with your garden hose.

If the stains still remain, you may need to use a scouring agent to thoroughly remove them. These agents typically contain harsh chemicals which can be dangerous, so it’s important to wear gloves when using them. Create a paste with your scouring agent and water, then apply it directly to the stained area. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before scrubbing with your brush once again. Again, rinse off the scouring agent with your garden hose.

For more stubborn stains that may call for an extra boost of strength, you can create a bleach solution with one part bleach and three parts water. Be sure to use this solution sparingly and avoid contact with any plants that may be nearby. With a soft sponge dipped in the solution, gently scrub at the mud stains. As always, rinse off bleach solution as soon as the stains have been removed.
