Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather the supplies you’ll need for this project: warm water, laundry detergent, 2 buckets, heavy-duty stain remover, and a sponge.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Stain Remover

Before washing, pre-treat the muddy areas of overalls with a heavy-duty stain remover. Allow it to set for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Soak in Bucket of Water

Create a mixture of warm water and laundry detergent in one bucket, and just warm water in the other. Add the overalls to the soapy mixture and soak for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Blot Stains with Sponge

Next, use a sponge to work the soap into the stained areas of the overalls and lightly scrub the fabrics. Do not rub harshly, as this can damage the fabric.

Step 5: Rinse Off Soap

Once the mud stains have been removed, rinse off the soapy mixture with the plain warm water in the second bucket. Then hang the overalls up to dry.

Step 6: Repeat if Necessary

If the mud stains remain, repeat these steps until they’re removed.
