What You’ll Need

  • Mild detergent
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean cloth or soft-bristled brush
  • Water

Step 1: Scrape Away Excess Mud

To begin, take an old toothbrush and start by scraping away any extra mud from surface of the shoe. Be careful not to scrub too hard – you don’t want to damage the fabric.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Next, you’ll need to make a cleaning solution. To do this, mix together some mild detergent with water. Depending on how much mud is on shoe, you may need to use more detergent. The mixture should form a light foam.

Step 3: Apply the Cleaning Solution

Take the cleaning solution and apply it to the stained areas of the shoe. Use a clean cloth or soft-bristled brush to work the solution into fabric. Be sure to pay extra attention to the stubborn mud stains.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once you’ve worked the cleaning solution into the fabric, rinse off the shoe with cold water. Then, use a dry cloth to blot away any excess moisture. Allow the shoes to air dry completely before wearing them again.

Good as New!

With a little effort and some patience, you can easily remove mud stains from your New Balance shoes. Just follow these steps and soon enough, your shoes will be looking as good as new!
