What You Will Need

  • A bucket of warm water
  • A mild liquid detergent specifically meant for cleaning leather
  • A soft-bristled brush
  • A clean, white cloth

Step 1: Clean Off the Mud

Before attempting to remove the mud stain itself, it is important to remove as much of the mud as possible from the mules. To do this, take the soft-bristled brush and gently brush off any dirt particles or debris. Be careful not to press down too hard and scratch the leather.

Step 2: Prep the Stain

Once you’ve removed as much of the mud as possible, mix a small amount of mild detergent in the bucket of warm water and lightly dip the cloth into the solution. Make sure not to soak it too much. Then, gently dab cloth onto the mud stain.

Step 3: Rinse the Stain Area

Next, take cloth and rinse the mud stain area with cold water. This will ensure that all of the soap residue from the detergent has been removed.

Step 4: Let Dry

Finally, let mules air dry completely. Avoid using a heat source such as a blow dryer, as this can cause the leather to crack and damage it. Once the mules have fully dried, they should look as good as new!
