Begin by lightly blotting up any excess mud on the clothing with a damp cloth. Try not to rub the fabric as this could cause it to fray or damage the weave. Once you have blotted up all of the excess mud, dab the spot with a damp cloth again.
In a cup, mix together warm water and a gentle laundry detergent. If stain is particularly tough – such as those caused by clay-based mud – you can add a teaspoon of ammonia to mixture. Make sure your detergent does not contain any chlorine or bleach, as this could fade the colour of the fabric.
Dip a clean sponge into cleaning solution and apply it directly to the mud stain. Allow solution to sit for 2-3 minutes before blotting up any excess. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this could cause damage.
Rinse clothing in warm water and place it in the washing machine in a cold, delicate cycle. Once finished, allow the clothing to air-dry naturally. Avoid using high temperatures, as this could cause shrinkage.
If stain has not completely disappeared after the first round of cleaning, repeat the steps until it is removed. You may need to be a bit more aggressive with the stain removal, but be careful not to damage fabric.
Removing mud stains from your Lacoste apparel may seem like a daunting task, but with these simple steps you’ll have your clothing looking good as new in no time. Just remember to be gentle when cleaning and to test any cleaning solutions on a small area of fabric first.
