If you happen to spot a fresh mud stain on your jersey, don't panic! You should make an effort to treat the stain immediately if possible. Begin by scraping off any mud that you can from the fabric. Next, take a paper towel or cloth and blot the stain to absorb as much of mud as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this can further spread dirt and cause permanent damage to fabric.
The next step is to create a detergent solution. For best results, combine 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap into a quart of warm water. Soak the stained area in the solution for at least 15 minutes but no more than 30 minutes. After soaking, gently rub the stained area and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
If the stain is still visible after soaking, pre-treat it with laundry detergent. Apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly onto stained area, and rub it in using your fingers or a soft-bristled brush. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Finally, machine wash jersey on the gentle cycle in warm water, and air-dry it. Not only will this help to remove any remaining mud stains, but it will also help to refresh the fabric.
By following steps outlined above, you should be able to easily remove mud stains from your jersey with minimal effort. Just remember to act quickly and do not scrub or use harsh chemicals on the fabric.
