If your jacket is made of cotton or denim, run cool water over the stained area. Next, mix a solution of one part mild laundry detergent and four parts cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and dab the stain with it. Then, take a white cloth with plain warm water and dab the stained area again to rinse away any residue.
To finish off, lay jacket flat on a dry towel and let it air-dry in a shaded spot. Avoid direct sunlight, as it could cause the color to fade.
Start by covering the stained area with talcum powder. This will help absorb any excess moisture. Next, combine an ounce of rubbing alcohol with two teaspoons of mild detergent and two cups of water. Dab the mixture onto the stain using a clean, white cloth. Then, place a dry white cloth over the stained area and press lightly using an iron set to the lowest level.
Finally, let jacket air-dry in a shaded spot, away from direct sunlight. Once it’s dry, brush away the talcum powder.
For synthetic jackets, start by blotting the stain with a damp cloth until it’s no longer visible. Then, rinse well with cold water and rub a small amount of laundry detergent onto the stained area. Let it sit for five minutes before rinsing again. Finally, let the jacket air-dry in a shaded spot away from direct sunlight.
Mud stains can be pesky, but with the right techniques you can get them out successfully. Just remember to be gentle when cleaning your jacket and use the right cleaning solutions depending on the material. Before you know it, you’ll be sporting your favorite jacket without a single stain in sight!
