Before you begin, you'll need some supplies to get the job done. You'll need a bucket, a brush, and mild detergent (such as Woolite). For tougher stains, you might also want to grab some stain remover or laundry pre-treater.
Now it's time to get your clothes ready for cleaning. All mud stains should be rinsed off with cold water as soon as possible after they occur. If the mud has set in for a while, try using a damp cloth to gently scrub away the stain before putting your garment in the washing machine.
Once your J. Jill clothing is prepped, it's time to give it a good wash. Start by placing your clothes in bucket and filling it up with cold water. Add a small scoop of detergent and gently swish the garments around until they are covered in bubbles. Allow the clothes to soak for at least 15 minutes before starting the washing machine cycle.
Once the wash cycle is complete, check the garment for any remaining mud stains. If necessary, repeat the washing process. Once you're sure the stains are gone, dry the clothing according to the care instructions provided.
To prevent mud stains from occurring in the future, consider treating your J. Jill clothing with a protective coating, such as Scotchgard. This will help repel dirt, mud, and other messes.
