Cleaning Basics for Mud Stained Gloves

To start, rinse the gloves in cold water for a few moments. This will help to dissolve small, fresh mud stains on the surface. If it does not come off easily, you will need to move onto more specialized cleaning methods.

Preparing a Stain Removing Solution

Mix one teaspoon of laundry detergent with one quart of warm water in a bucket. The detergent should be gentle and free of bleach or fabric softener so the gloves don't get damaged. Once the solution is ready, saturate the gloves in it and gently scrub away the mud stains with a soft-bristle brush.

Treating Tough Stains

If stains still remain after cleaning with the detergent solution, try making a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water. Spread the paste over the stain and allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. If the stains are still there, repeat the process as needed until they are gone.

Preventing Future Stains

Once the gloves have been cleaned and dried, use a stain-resistant spray or waterproofing product to help repel future mud and stains. Apply the product according to the manufacturer's instructions and let the gloves dry completely before wearing them again.
