You need to begin by getting rid of any excess mud from dress. The best way to do this is by using a toothbrush. Gently brush away any mud that’s sticking to the fabric. Don’t scrub too hard or else you may damage the fabric.
Fill a sink with lukewarm water and put the dress in it. Leave it in the water for about an hour. This helps to loosen the mud stains so that they become easier to remove.
Once dress has been soaking for an hour, take it out of the water and start working on the stain. Apply a small amount of liquid dish soap directly to the stain and rub it into the fabric gently with your fingers. Let the soap sit for 15 minutes.
Put the dress in the washing machine and just use plain cold water. Let the machine rinse the dress and then take it out and hang it up to dry. You should now find that mud stains have been removed.
If the stain isn’t completely gone, repeat steps 2-4 again until it is. If the stain remains even after several attempts, then it’s likely that stain has set in and won’t come out anymore.
