How to Clean Mud Stains From Cotton Voile
- Test fabric: Before you get started, check the care label for washing instructions. If fabric is labeled “dry clean only,” take it to a professional cleaning service.
- Mix soap and warm water: Fill the bucket with warm water and mix in enough dish soap or laundry detergent to create suds.
- Soak fabric: Put the piece of cotton voile into the soapy water and let it soak for about 30 minutes.
- Brush lightly: After the fabric has soaked, take an old toothbrush and brush the fabric gently. Don’t use too much force, as this may damage the fabric.
- Rinse: Take fabric out of soapy water and rinse with warm water for a few minutes. If the mud stain isn’t completely gone, put a few tablespoons of Borax powder into the bucket and repeat steps 3-5.
- Dry: Hang the fabric up to air dry or put it in the dryer on the lowest heat setting. Once the fabric is completely dry, inspect it to make sure mud stain is gone.
