What You'll Need

  • Clean cold water
  • Liquid detergent
  • Enzyme-based detergent
  • White vinegar or ammonia
  • Stain remover

Step 1: Treat With Detergent

Mix one teaspoon of liquid detergent with two cups of clean cold water. Soak stained area for five minutes. Rinse the area with clean cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Step 2: Try Enzyme-Based Detergent

If the stain is still visible, try using an enzyme-based detergent. Mix one tablespoon of enzyme-based detergent with two cups of clean cold water. Allow stained area to soak for 15 minutes in the mixture and then rinse with cold water. Blot dry with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Use Vinegar or Ammonia

If stain is still visible, try using either white vinegar or ammonia on it. For both solutions, mix one part vinegar or ammonia with two parts cold water. Sponge solution onto stain and let it stand for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Step 4: Use Stain Remover

If the stain is still visible after the previous steps, it's time to break out stain remover. Make sure to follow the instructions on product. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.
