Soak a clean cloth in white vinegar and use it to dab at the mud stain on your fabric. The vinegar should help to break down the stain, making it easier to remove. Allow the vinegar to sit on the stain for 5-10 minutes before continuing.
Rinse the fabric under warm water to remove the vinegar and any loosened mud particles. Gently rub the fabric with your hands or a sponge to help loosen stain further.
Apply a few drops of mild detergent directly onto the stain and use a sponge to gently scrub the fabric in a circular motion. Once the detergent has been worked into fabric, rinse area thoroughly with warm water.
Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with one part warm water in a bowl. Soak the stained area of fabric in the solution for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and check to see if the stain has been removed.
Allow fabric to air dry, then iron the area if desired. This will help to further remove any residual mud stain, as well as give the fabric a crisp, fresh look.
With these simple steps, you can quickly and easily clean unwanted mud stains from your cotton piqué fabric. Just remember to act fast when dealing with a stain, as this will help to prevent it from setting.
