Start by blotting the stained area with a clean cloth or a sponge soaked in cold water. This will help to remove some of the excess mud. Do not scrub or rub too hard, as this could damage the canvas.
Mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid with cold water in a bucket. Dip the cloth or sponge into the solution and gently dab the stained area. Allow it to sit for several minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
After rinsing with the soap solution, fill a spray bottle with white vinegar. Mist stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes before wiping off excess with a clean cloth or sponge.
If the stain is still visible, mix baking soda and water together to make a paste. Apply the paste to the stained area, and use a brush to scrub it into the fabric. Leave it to sit for a few minutes before wiping off excess with a damp cloth or sponge, then rinse it with cold water.
Once you have finished cleaning the stained area, allow it to air dry completely before using it again.
With these easy steps, you can easily clean mud stains from cotton canvas and restore it to its original state. Just remember to always use cold water and gentle cleaning products to preserve the fabric.
