Using Detergent and Hot Water

This is one of easiest methods to use for removing mud stains from your collared shirt. Start by running hot water directly over the stain until the area is saturated, but be careful not to soak entire shirt. Then, add a liquid detergent such as Tide or Gain, directly to the stain. Rub the detergent into the stain gently and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes.

After ten minutes has passed, rinse out the detergent with cold water and inspect the area. If the stain is still present, repeat the process until you have removed as much of the stain as possible. Once the stain has been removed, wash the shirt with cold water according to care label instructions.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda

This method is particularly effective for stubborn mud stains. Start by applying hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain and let it sit for several minutes. Then, sprinkle a little baking soda on top and mix it together with your finger. Let mixture sit on the stain for an additional 10 minutes, then rinse it out with cold water.

Once the stain has been removed, launder the shirt according to the instructions on the care label. Make sure to use a mild detergent and cold water, since hot water will set the stain.

Treat the Stain Immediately

When it comes to mud stains, the sooner you treat the area, the better. Once the mud dries, it becomes much harder to remove. If you can't treat the stain right away, at least cover the area with a damp cloth and rinse it off as soon as possible.

By following one of these methods, you should be able to quickly and easily remove mud stains from your collared shirt. Whether you choose to use detergent and hot water, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, or just rinse the area immediately, you can get your shirt looking clean and crisp once again.
