Step 1: Treat the Stain Quickly

As soon as you notice the mud stain, take action! The longer it sits, the more likely it will become a permanent part of your chiffon fabric.

Step 2: Blot the Mud

Don’t rub the mud into fabric. It’s best to start blotting area gently with a paper towel or washcloth to remove as much as possible before attempting to cleanse fabric.

Step 3: Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix one teaspoon of a gentle liquid detergent with two cups of warm water. You can also use a mild shampoo in place of liquid detergent.

Step 4: Soak the Stain

Gently soak the stained area with the cleaning solution using a clean sponge or cloth. Avoid rubbing the fabric, as it could damage the delicate material. Allow the area to soak for five minutes.

Step 5: Hang to Dry

Hang the fabric upside down or lay it on a flat surface outdoors. Let the fabric air dry before assessing the results.

Step 6: Assess Results

If stain remains, repeat steps one through five. If needed, dab a very small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the affected area and allow to dry.
