Before cleaning a mud-stained belt, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. You’ll need a mild detergent, a soft cloth, an old toothbrush, and clean water. You may also want to use a stain remover if the mud stain is particularly tough.
Once you’ve gathered your supplies, begin by pre-treating the mud stain with a mild liquid detergent. Gently dab the detergent onto the stain using a soft cloth, then let it set for a few minutes to give it time to work.
Next, begin scrubbing the mud stain with an old toothbrush. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can use a stronger cleaning product such as a laundry stain remover or oxygenated bleach.
After scrubbing the mud stain, rinse the belt with lukewarm water. Be sure to rinse thoroughly until all traces of the stain and the soap are gone. Once the belt is clean, hang it to dry.
Once the belt is dry, it’s time to polish it. Use a soft cloth to buff the leather to a shine, and apply a leather conditioner afterwards to help preserve the material.
You now know how to clean mud stains from belts! Follow these steps and you’ll have a mud-free belt in no time.
