If you find that your watch has been tarnished by mildew or allergy staining, the best way to remove it is to use a cleaning solution of warm water, a mild liquid detergent, and a small amount of vinegar. Soak your watch in the solution for five minutes and let it sit. Once this is complete, rinse your watch with cold, clear water. Finally, use a soft cloth to buff until the stains have been removed.
For tougher stains, you may need to up the ante. You can use dish soap to remove difficult stains. Apply a few drops of detergent onto a toothbrush then brush it gently over the area affected. Allow the soap to set for three minutes before washing off with clean, cold water. Dry carefully with a soft cloth and repeat the process if needed.
If that doesn’t do the trick, you can also try using rubbing alcohol. Saturate a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and dab it into the stained area. Gently rub back and forth until the stain lifts. Finally, rinse with cold, clear water and dry with a soft cloth.
The key to preventing future mouthwash stains is to keep your watch away from any liquids. If you know you’ll be brushing your teeth or rinsing with mouthwash, take extra care to protect your watch from splashes and drips. After use, store your watch in a safe place, away from moisture and direct sunlight, to ensure it stays in pristine condition.
