Before you embark on the stain removal process, make sure you have all the supplies you need. You will need a pair of rubber gloves and some warm water, a laundry detergent or a dishwashing liquid, a white cloth and white vinegar. If the stain is really stubborn, you may also need some rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
Start by blotting the stain with a white cloth. Make sure not to rub the stain as this will only spread it. Carefully dab area and soak up as much excess mouthwash as you can.
Once the excess liquid has been removed, make a mixture of one teaspoon of laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid and one cup of warm water. Dip your cloth into the liquid and gently dab the stained area. Blot the stain until liquid is completely absorbed.
To finish treating the stain, rinse the area with a solution of one cup of white vinegar and two cups of warm water. Again, use a clean cloth to dab the area and blot the liquid away until it is absorbed. Once area is dry, check to see if the stain has been removed.
If the stain is still present, repeat treatment with a stronger solution. Mix together one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and one teaspoon of detergent, and mix with one cup of warm water. Use a cloth to dab the mixture onto the stain and blot away excess liquid. Rinse the area with the vinegar solution as before and dry it with a clean cloth.
Save your precious silk dupioni from mouthwash stains by following these simple instructions. With a bit of patience and effort, you should be able to remove any stubborn stains with ease.
