Mouthwash is essential for keeping your teeth and gums healthy, but sometimes you may end up with accidental spills that end up staining your favourite scarf. This can be particularly problematic if the scarf is made of delicate fabric. However, cleaning stains from a scarf due to mouthwash doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Here are some steps to help you get rid of mouthwash stains from your scarf:
Before you do anything else, you should start by blotting the stained area of the scarf. Use a clean white cloth, such as an old t-shirt, to absorb as much of mouthwash as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain; this may spread it further and damage the fabric.
Once you have blotted the stain, you can pre-treat it with a stain remover. Follow the directions on bottle and apply the product directly onto the stained area of the scarf. Gently massage the stain remover into the fabric and allow it to sit for the recommended amount of time before washing.
The next step is to wash the scarf using your usual laundry detergent. If the scarf is made of delicate fabric or is expensive, add a teaspoon of gentle laundry cleaner to the load to help preserve fabric. Once finished, inspect the scarf to determine if the stain has been successfully removed.
If the stain has not been fully removed after washing, you can repeat the pre-treatment and washing process. Be sure to allow the pre-treatment to work for full amount of time before washing again for best results.
