The best way to remove a fabric stain caused by mouthwash is to treat it as soon as possible. If possible, rinse the stained area with cold water as soon as you notice it, which can help reduce the intensity of the stain. Once you have rinsed the stain, apply some detergent or stain remover directly onto the stain and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before washing the garment as per normal. In order to ensure stain is completely removed, you may need to repeat this process a few times.
If stain proves tough to remove and regular detergent or stain remover isn't working, try using some white vinegar or lemon juice. Apply liquid directly onto the stain, wait a few minutes and then rinse off with cold water. This can help lift the stain from fabric. Once you've rinsed the garment, allow it to air dry or put it into the washing machine as per usual. You may need to repeat this process several times to completely remove the stain.
If the mouthwash stain still doesn't disappear, try using some baking soda or a commercial rust remover. Apply baking soda directly onto the stain, leave for a few minutes and then rinse off with cold water. The commercial rust remover may require a bit more effort, as you will need to follow the instructions on packaging. However, if used correctly it should help to remove the stain.
Mouthwash stains can be tricky to remove, but hopefully these tips will help you get rid of them. Have patience and don't give up until the stain is removed!
