Treating a mouthwash stain doesn’t have to be difficult. Start by dampening the area of the poncho with cold water. This will help to loosen stain particles embedded in fabric. If you can see stains easily, you can also dab the area with a cotton ball or gentle cloth.
Create a simple cleaning solution using warm water and a mild detergent such as dish soap or laundry detergent. Gently massage the cleaning solution into the stain and allow it to sit for around 10 minutes. Then rinse the area with cold water and blot it dry with a clean towel.
If the stain is still visible, try using a mixture of distilled white vinegar and cold water. Again, massage the mixture into the fabric and let it sit for 10 minutes. Rinse the area with cold water and blot it dry with a clean towel. Repeat this process until the stain is completely gone.
For stubborn stains, you can try soaking fabric in oxygen bleach for about 1 hour. After soaking, rinse with cold water and blot it dry with a clean towel. Rinse with cold water once again and let the poncho air dry.
Finally, if all else fails, you can try spot-treating the stain with a commercial cleaning product. Be sure to read and follow the instructions on the label and test the product on a small unobtrusive area first. Once the stains are gone, launder the poncho as usual according to the care instructions on the tag.
With these easy steps, you can get the mouthwash stains out of your poncho and keep it looking good as new!
