Before attempting any other methods, start by pre-treating the stained area with liquid detergent. Gently lather the detergent onto the stain, then wait a few minutes before rinsing with cold water. If the stain persists, move on to step two.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, it’s time to spot clean. For this, you will need a non-chlorine bleach solution, such as white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Start by sopping up the excess liquid from the stained area, then apply solution directly to the remaining stain. Let it sit for several minutes, then gently brush the area with a soft bristled toothbrush. Rinse with cold water once you’re done.
If you’re satisfied with the results of the spot cleaning, throw the garment into the washing machine using your normal cycle. To keep the stain from setting, set the temperature to the lowest possible setting. After the cycle ends, hang garment to dry out of direct sunlight.
