Step 1: Blot Up Any Excess Mouthwash

The first step is to blot away any excess mouthwash from affected area on the pants. Use a clean cloth or paper towel and press firmly against the stain with a dabbing motion; this will help to draw out any remaining mouthwash from the pant’s fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Next, use a pre-treatment product to further loosen any mouthwash remaining in the fabric. Spray-on pre-treaters are readily available and easy to use; simply spray the product onto stained area and allow it to work for several minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Wash With Detergent

Once pre-treatment has had time to work, the next step is to wash pants with a laundry detergent. The detergent should be applied directly to the stain and scrubbed in using a soft brush. After letting the detergent sit for 10 minutes, launder the pants as normal.

Step 4: Re-Treat the Stain if Necessary

If any traces of the mouthwash stain remain after laundering, repeat pre-treatment and cleaning process. This time, use a stronger pre-treatment product and a tougher stain remover detergent. When the pants are dry, assess the results; if the mouthwash stain is still present, repeat the steps again until it is completely removed.
