Eliminating Mouthwash Stains from Organza with Ease

Maintaining organza fabrics can be tricky. Not only is it delicate and prone to snagging, but it’s also particularly vulnerable to staining. One of the more common stains on organza is from mouthwash, which can be hard to remove without damaging the fabric.

Gather Your Materials

Before you attempt to clean any stain off your organza, be sure to gather all the materials you’ll need. These include:

  • Sink or bowl
  • Gentle detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Soft cloth
  • Nonabrasive sponge or soft-bristled brush

Pre-Treat the Stain

Begin by blotting up excess mouthwash from the fabric using a dry cloth. Try to avoid rubbing the fabric too much, as this can damage the fibers. Then, create a cleaning solution by mixing one tablespoon of gentle detergent with two cups of warm water. Dip a soft sponge or brush into the solution before gently blotting the stained area.

Rinse and Repeat

Using a cloth dampened with plain water, rinse the spot that you just pre-treated. When finished, replace the cleaning solution with two cups of warm water mixed with two tablespoons of vinegar. Once again, use a sponge or brush to carefully apply the solution, before rinsing with a damp cloth.

Air Dry

When the organza has been thoroughly rinsed, lay it flat on a towel and allow it to air dry for several hours. This will help prevent water spots. After the fabric is completely dry, check to make sure the mouthwash stain has been removed. If not, repeat the previous steps until the stain is gone.
