Step 1: Blot the Stain

Use a dry white cloth or paper towel to blot the area where mouthwash spilled. Don't rub the cloth back and forth; instead, lightly pat the area to absorb the excess liquid.

Step 2: Make a Solution

Mix together two cups of warm water, one teaspoon of gentle liquid laundry detergent, and one tablespoon of baking soda in a container or bowl. Use a spoon to stir mixture until the baking soda is completely dissolved.

Step 3: Apply the Solution

Soak a white cloth in the solution and use it to saturate the stained area. Be sure to work solution into the fibers of the mule, but do not scrub it. Let the solution sit for five minutes.

Step 4: Rinse

Rinse the mule with cold water. To keep the shoe from becoming too wet, use a soft-bristled brush to brush off any excess solution as you rinse. Finally, let mule air dry.
