Take a clean white cloth and dip it into cold water. Use cloth to rub the affected area gently, being careful not to spread the stain further. Once you have removed as much of the mouthwash stain as possible, dab the area with a dry cloth.
Fill a sink or a bucket with warm water and add a mild detergent. Place the down jacket into the solution and let it soak for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take the down jacket out and rinse it with cold water. Make sure all of the detergent has been washed away.
Take a clean cloth and dampen it with vinegar. Gently rub the stain with the cloth, then use a brush to scrub area lightly. Once the stain is gone, sprinkle some baking soda on the area and let it sit for a few minutes. Finally, use a clean cloth to wipe away baking soda.
With this simple cleaning method, you can easily remove stubborn mouthwash stains from your down jacket. However, it is advised to always test a small, hidden area before trying this method on whole garment.
