What You Need

  • Cotton Gingham Fabric
  • Mouthwash
  • White Vinegar
  • Lemon Juice
  • Baking Soda
  • Small Container
  • Soft Towel
  • Old Toothbrush

Step 1: Prep the Stain

Before beginning any cleaning process, always pre-treat the fabric by applying a mild detergent to the stained area. To do this, mix 1 teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with 2 cups of warm water in a small container. Using an old toothbrush, lightly scrub the stain with the detergent mixture. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.

Step 2: Remove the Stain

Once stain has been pre-treated, combine together ½ cup of white vinegar and ¼ cup of lemon juice in a small bowl, then add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix the ingredients together until they form a paste. Apply the paste to the stained area and let it sit for 20 minutes. Once the paste has had time to work its magic, use an old toothbrush to gently scrub away the mouthwash stain.

Step 3: Dry the Fabric and Finishing Touches

Rinse the stained area with lukewarm water to remove any residue left by the paste. Finally, lay the fabric flat on a clean towel and allow it to air dry. If necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 until stain is completely removed.
