Mouthwash is a great tool for oral hygiene, however, it can sometimes leave an unsightly stain on your clothing. Before you resort to throwing away your favorite coat, try these easy techniques to bring them back to their original condition.
Begin by blotting stained area using a dry white paper towel. When using a cloth towel, make sure that it is white in color and not patterned, as any color dye may transfer onto the coat. Start applying gentle pressure and dabbing the area in a circular motion. The goal is to absorb as much of the stain as possible without spreading it.
Once the majority of the stain has been absorbed, prepare a detergent solution. Take 2 cups of lukewarm water, mix it with ½ teaspoon of mild detergent soap, and stir until it is fully dissolved. Use this solution to dab and cover the stained area with a clean, white cloth. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Afterwards, fill a bowl with lukewarm water and submerge the coat. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Doing so will allow the detergent solution to further penetrate the fabric and help loosen the stain.
Once soaking period is complete, place the coat in the washing machine, add your usual detergent, and run it through a regular cycle. After it is finished, inspect the coat to ensure that stain is completely gone.
