Use Cold Water to Soak the Stain

The first step is to rinse the area as soon as possible with cold water. Soak the stained area in some cold water for 20 minutes. This will help to reduce the stain by removing some of mouthwash particles from the fabric. Gently rub stained fabric between your fingers while it is soaking. After 20 minutes, carefully roll up the fabric, creating a ball shape. Finally, place the ball of fabric in the washing machine and wash accordingly.

Treat Stain with Vinegar

If the mouthwash stain is persistent, try treating it with vinegar. Pour white vinegar directly onto the stain, rubbing in circles with a soft-bristled brush. Allow the vinegar to sit on the fabric for around 15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. Do not rub the stain while applying vinegar. This could push the mouthwash further into the fabric.

Use Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda paste is another effective way to remove mouthwash stains. To make the paste, mix one part baking soda with three parts warm water. Rub the mixture onto the stain and leave it to dry. After the paste has dried, brush away any residue with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse the area with cold water and repeat process if necessary.

Apply Laundry Detergent

If the stain is still present after all of these steps, try applying laundry detergent directly to the affected area. Rub the detergent in gently with circular motions and let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, rinse area with cold water and then place article of clothing in the washing machine. Wash as usual and check for residual stains after drying.
