Accidents happen, but that doesn’t mean you can’t easily tackle mouthwash stains from your area rugs. Here are a few tips to help you get back to a spotless carpet.

What You’ll Need
- White cloth
- Water
- Vinegar
- Detergent
Removing Mouthwash Stains From Area Rugs
- Wipe up any excess liquid or debris with a white cloth.
- Mix together 1/4 teaspoon of mild detergent with one cup of warm water.
- Dampen a white cloth with detergent solution and gently rub onto the stain.
- If stain persists, mix together 1/4 cup each of white vinegar and warm water. Take a fresh, clean cloth and dampen with this mixture.
- Lightly blot the stain until it is removed.
- Let rug dry completely.
Precautions
- Always use a clean, white cloth when cleaning.
- Avoid using excessive amounts of water and detergent to prevent further staining.
- Do not rub or scrub vigorously as it may damage your rug fibers.
