What You’ll Need

  • White cloth
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Detergent

Removing Mouthwash Stains From Area Rugs

  1. Wipe up any excess liquid or debris with a white cloth.
  2. Mix together 1/4 teaspoon of mild detergent with one cup of warm water.
  3. Dampen a white cloth with detergent solution and gently rub onto the stain.
  4. If stain persists, mix together 1/4 cup each of white vinegar and warm water. Take a fresh, clean cloth and dampen with this mixture.
  5. Lightly blot the stain until it is removed.
  6. Let rug dry completely.

Precautions

  • Always use a clean, white cloth when cleaning.
  • Avoid using excessive amounts of water and detergent to prevent further staining.
  • Do not rub or scrub vigorously as it may damage your rug fibers.
