Activewear is meant to be lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to keep it looking clean and new. The first step in removing a stain from activewear is to pretreat the stain. Start by dampening the stained area with some cold water. Then, apply a liquid detergent directly to the stain and rub gently in a circular motion. Allow the detergent to sit on stain for at least five minutes before rinsing off.
After the stain has been pretreated, it's time to wash the affected area. Put the garment into washing machine, using the cold water setting and a mild detergent. Once the cycle is finished, check the stain to see if it has been removed. If it is still visible, repeat the pretreatment and washing process again.
If the stain is still not removed after the above steps, it may be necessary to use a specialized stain remover. Choose one that is designed specifically for activewear fabric, such as Shout Advanced Gel. Apply gel directly to the stained area and allow it to sit for up to 30 minutes. Then, put fabric through another cold-water wash cycle with a mild detergent.
Once the clothing has gone through its final wash cycle, it's important to hang dry the piece of activewear. Hanging it out to dry will help ensure that the stain doesn't settle even further into the fibers of the fabric. And if the stain is still not completely gone, then repeat the steps above until the stain disappears.
