What You'll Need

  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Soft cloth or cotton ball

Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Before laundering your workwear, it's important to pre-treat the stain. Dispense some of the dish soap onto a soft cloth or cotton ball and apply it directly to the stain. Gently dab at the stain until affected area is saturated. Allow the soap to sit for about 10 minutes before going onto step 2.

Step 2: Soak Garment

Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water. Add 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the water, and stir until the baking soda has dissolved. Place the garment into the water and allow it to soak for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse and Repeat

Remove the garment from the water and rinse thoroughly in cold water. If the stain remains, repeat steps 1 and 2. Once the stain has been removed, launder the garment according to the care label.

Step 4: Apply Hydrogen Peroxide to Set the Stain

Once garment has been laundered, any residual stain can be treated with hydrogen peroxide. Dip a clean cloth into some hydrogen peroxide and gently blot at the remaining stain until it is no longer visible. Allow the hydrogen peroxide to set before wearing the garment.
