The first step to removing medicine stains from a trench coat is to identify what type of stain it is. Various types of medication can leave behind different types of staining, so determining the exact kind of stains is important. Once you know what type of stain you’re dealing with, you can choose the appropriate cleaning solution.
Once you've identified type of stain and chosen the cleaning solution, you'll want to pre-treat stained area before washing. Blot at stained area with a cloth dipped in the cleaning solution until the stain fades. If the stain is still visible, you can use a scrub brush or toothbrush to further remove it.
When the stain has been pre-treated and either removed or lightened, it's time to wash the trench coat. Soak coat in warm water with the chosen cleaning solution for about 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water for a few minutes. Allow the coat to air dry or place it in the dryer with a low heat setting. Do not iron the coat while it is still wet.
