When your kid is unwell, you want to make sure they're getting the medication they need. But sometimes that means spills, like medication ending up on your kid's favorite stuffed animal or toy. We know it can be hard to feel like you’re not doing enough to help your sick kiddo—but good news is, with the right know-how, you can easily clean those medicine stains out of their beloved toys.

Steps for Cleaning Medicine Stains off Toys

  1. Mix one cup of cool water with one tablespoon of mild laundry detergent in a small bowl.
  2. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and gently dab at the stained area.
  3. Once the area appears to be clean, rinse the fabric with cool water.
  4. Allow the toy to air dry completely before giving it back to your child.

If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can use a clean toothbrush to scrub at the fabric. Be sure not to scrub too hard, or you could damage the fabric.

If you’re working with a stuffed animal or plush toy, you can also try running it through the washing machine on a gentle cycle. Be sure to read the care instructions for the toy to make sure it’s safe to use a washing machine.
