Before attempting to remove any stains, it is important to identify the type of stain and how it was caused. Medicine stains may be caused by either liquid or powder medications. These types of stains will differ in the cleaning methods required for removal.
Once the type of stain is determined, pretreat the area with a suitable cleaning solution. For liquid medicines, use a detergent that is designed to break down oils, fats, and grease. Make sure to read the instructions on the label to determine the appropriate amount for treating the stain. For powder medication stains, a spot stain remover should be used to help break up the particles.
After pretreating the stained area, fill a basin with cool water and add a capful of laundry detergent. Soak the sock in the solution for at least 15 minutes. After this time has elapsed, gently rub the stained area with a soft-bristled brush.
Once the stained area is treated, place the sock in the washing machine and set the cycle to the lowest temperature setting. Use a gentle detergent if necessary. When cycle is finished, inspect the sock to make sure stain has been removed. If not, repeat the previous steps.
Removing medicine stains from socks does not need to be a daunting task. Following these easy steps can help restore your socks to their original state. With a little bit of patience and effort, you can have your socks looking good as new.
