Do not rub or scrub the stained area of your silk tussah. Instead, gently blot the excess medicine with a damp cloth. Do not apply too much pressure, as this can cause the stain to spread out further. Be sure to rotate your cloth often, as you may be transferring some of the medicine to area that was just cleaned.
Once you have blotted away the excess medicine, you will want to pretreat the area with a fabric-safe stain remover. Use a dropper to carefully place a few drops of the solution onto the stain and allow it to sit for 30 minutes before you proceed to the next step.
For smaller items, hand wash the stained area in a sink of lukewarm water for about 10 minutes. For larger items, such as a dress, use a washing machine set to a delicate cycle. Once the washing process is complete, hang your silk tussah up to air dry and examine the results. If stain is still visible, you may need to repeat the steps until it is entirely gone.
