The key to removing medicine stains from silk satin is to act fast. The longer you wait to clean the stain, the harder it will be to remove. First, identify what type of medicine the stain is from. This will help determine the best cleaning method to use.

Instructions

  • Gently blot stain using a clean white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub as this could damage the fabric.
  • If the stain is still visible, place cloth or paper towel over the stain and press with an iron set to low heat for about 15-30 seconds. Blot off any remaining stain with a damp cloth.
  • Mix a small amount of mild detergent (such as dish soap) with cold water to make a cleaning solution. Apply solution to the stain and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Using a clean cloth, gently scrub the stained area in a circular motion. Rinse the area with cold water and blot dry.
  • If the stain is still present, apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water and blot dry.
  • Repeat the above steps if necessary, being careful not to damage the fabric.

Additional Tips

  • Do not put the fabric in the dryer until the stain is completely gone.
  • Be sure to test detergent and hydrogen peroxide on a hidden area of the fabric first to avoid damage.
  • For tougher stains, you may need to take the fabric to a professional cleaner.
