The first step to rescuing your silk habotai fabric is to pre-treat any medicine stains. This can prevent them from setting into the fabric and make them easier to remove. To pre-treat the stains, start by dabbing them with a clean white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the stain as possible. Then create a paste with a bit of dish soap and lukewarm water. Apply the paste directly onto the stain and rub it in using a soft cloth or brush. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes before carefully rinsing it off.
After pre-treating stain, it's important to use the right cleaning products. You don't want to risk ruining your fabric! For silk habotai, stick to gentle cleaning solutions. Avoid any harsh chemicals, such as bleach, and opt for mild, dye-free detergent or a specialty silk cleaning product. Always remember to test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first so that you can check for any discoloration.
Once you have chosen the right cleaning solution, you can move onto actually removing the stains. Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add a capful of the detergent or cleanser. Submerge the fabric and let it soak for around 10 minutes before gently agitating the fabric in the water. Rinse the fabric in a few changes of cold water. After that, press out the excess water without wringing or twisting fabric, then lay it flat to dry.
