Treating and Removing Stain

The first step in removing medicine stains is to quickly treat the stain before it sets in. To do this, run cold water through the back of the stain for at least five minutes. This will prevent the medicine from penetrating deep into the fabric. Make sure to avoid using hot water as this could help set the stain.

Next, make a cleaning solution with a mild detergent and cold water. Mix together and then use an old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush to lightly scrub the stain. Be sure to rinse off the detergent with cold water after that.

If the stain has still not been removed, you can use white vinegar to try and lift it. Dab a bit of vinegar directly onto the stain and let sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Important Tips to Remember

  • Always test cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot on garment to ensure it won't damage the fabric.
  • After treating the stain, wash the shirt immediately in cold water and a mild detergent.
  • If possible, dry the garment outside in sun as this can help naturally bleach the stain.
  • Do not apply heat of any kind (iron, blow dryer, etc.) to the stained area as this will set the stain.
