Before attempting to remove the stain, gather the necessary supplies. Having the right equipment on hand will make the task much easier. These include a clean sponge, clean cloth, laundry detergent, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, and white vinegar.
Once your supplies are gathered, pre-treat the stain using a liquid laundry detergent. Using a sponge, gently rub the detergent into the stain. Rinse with warm water and let it sit for five minutes. Repeat if needed.
After pre-treating the stain, rinse it with cold water and a clean cloth. This will help remove any excess detergent and other debris.
Once the stain is rinsed, it's time to spot treat it. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with one part dishwashing liquid, then apply the mixture to stain. Let it sit for fifteen minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
If the stain is still present, mix a solution of equal parts bleach and water. Apply the mixture to the stain, then let it sit for fifteen minutes. Rinse it off with cold water and repeat if necessary.
For stubborn stains, it may be necessary to soak item in a solution of white vinegar and water. Let it sit for at least thirty minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat this process as necessary until stain is removed.
Once stain is removed, it's time to launder the shirt. Be sure to use the appropriate setting and temperature for the fabric type. Allow the shirt to air-dry afterwards.
Medicine stains can be tricky to remove but with these simple steps, it doesn't have to be a dreaded chore. With some patience and the right supplies, you can easily get those pesky stains out of your shirt.
