Gather Your Supplies

Before you start, it’s important to gather all of the necessary supplies. This will save you time and help you make sure you have everything you need to complete job. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Poplin fabric with a medicine stain
  • Plastic bucket
  • Cold water
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean cloths
  • Iron

Remove Excess Medicine

The first step is to remove as much of the excess medicine as possible. Take an old toothbrush and gently brush at the stain. Do not use too much force as this could damage the fabric. Once you’ve removed as much as you can, rinse fabric in cold water to remove any remaining residue.

Soak In Mild Detergent Solution

Next, fill a plastic bucket with cold water and a few drops of mild laundry detergent. Mix the ingredients together until the detergent is completely dissolved. Place the fabric in the bucket and let it soak for at least an hour.

Rinse and Rinse Again

After an hour, take the fabric out of the bucket and rinse it in cold water. Make sure you rinse the fabric until all of the detergent is gone. If there are still traces of medicine on the fabric, repeat the soaking process with a new batch of detergent solution.

Apply White Vinegar

If the stain still persists, apply white vinegar directly to the affected area. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water again. This method should help lift the stain even further.

Dry and Iron

Finally, lay the fabric flat on a clean surface and let it air dry. Once fully dry, give it a press with an iron set to a low-heat setting to make sure stain is completely removed.
