Removing Stains from Synthetic Fabrics

To begin, you will need to gather some supplies including laundry detergent, white vinegar, and a cloth. Then follow the steps provided below:

  • Begin by blotting away any excess medicine left on the fabric. Place the cloth on top of the stain and use a blotting motion to absorb the stain.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in hot water. Alternatively, you can purchase a specifically formulated stain remover created specifically for pet bedding.
  • Apply the mixture to stained area. Gently rub it into the fabric using your fingers or a soft cloth.
  • Rinse the area with clean, warm water.
  • Allow the fabric to air-dry. If the stain persists, repeat the process.

Removing Stains from Natural Fabrics

If the pet bed has been made with natural fabrics such as wool or cotton then the cleaning instructions change slightly. The following steps should be used:

  • Begin by blotting away any excess medicine left on fabric. Place the cloth on top of the stain and use a blotting motion to absorb the stain.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in warm water.
  • Using a sponge, dab the mixture onto the affected area of the fabric.
  • Rinse the area with clean, warm water.
  • If the stain still persists then fill a bucket or sink with warm water and add 2 teaspoons of bleach-free detergent. Soak the fabric for 10 minutes before rinsing it with clean water.

Other Tips for Removing Medicine Stains from Pet Beds

When dealing with medical stains on pet beds, it is important to remember the following tips:

  • Avoid using chlorine bleach as it can leave yellowish discolorations on fabrics.
  • Be sure to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the pet bed first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
  • If stain remains even after multiple attempts to remove it, consider replacing the pet bed.
  • If the pet bed has a waterproof cover, be sure to clean it regularly to prevent mold and mildew growth.
